Zibute Zaparackas, M.D. Dr. Zaparackas specializes in pediatric ophthalmology. She received her M.D. from the University of Michigan in 1971. She completed her residency at Northwestern University Medical School. In 1978 she became board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. She is currently an Attending Physician at both Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital. Outside of work, Dr. Zaparackas enjoys the opera and takes pride in her Lithuanian heritage. |

Michael C. Giovingo, M.D. Dr. Michael Giovingo is a board certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty fellowship training in glaucoma. He was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and lives in downtown Chicago with his family. Dr. Giovingo graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor of Arts. He then obtained his medical degree from the University of Illinois. He went on to complete his internal medicine internship at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Dr. Giovingo completed his residency in ophthalmology at the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he served as Chief Resident during his last year of training. Following residency, he completed a glaucoma fellowship in Boston at the prestigious Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary-Harvard Medical school. Dr. Giovingo is currently Director of the Glaucoma Service and Ophthalmology research for Cook County Health and Hospital Systems. He also sees patients at his Northwestern University affiliated private practice. Dr. Giovingo is highly experienced in incisional glaucoma surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, glaucoma laser therapy, advanced cataract surgery and laser assisted cataract surgery. He trains residents in advanced glaucoma and anterior segment techniques. Dr. Giovingo is also very active in glaucoma research. He has published and presented at international meetings on the subject of glaucoma laser therapy, minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, glaucoma pathophysiology, and innovative medical therapy for glaucoma.
